Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Council

At the meeting of the Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Council on November 14th, the Board voted unanimously to support the Warner Center 2035 Plan. This plan will replace the current Warner Center Specific Plan and will encourage a balance of housing and jobs to support economic growth, a more pedestrian community and an improved environment to work, live and play.

"Workers were passionate about their jobs, and told how they depended on each other to meet deadlines so that projects could be completed on time." - student Jose

Career Exploration Visit Really Impresses

On November 13, 2012, all 11th grade students in the Academy of Art & Technology toured Impress Communications, a large specialty printing company in Chatsworth where they saw firsthand how materials from brochures to elaborate packaging are designed, printed, and assembled. Some of the words of wisdom shared by Paul Marino, the owner and driving force behind this growing business, really stuck with the kids. They were particularly impressed by his admonition that being great is not enough, that you always have to keep improving to stay ahead.

I find the troika to be one of the best avenue’s for networking. Because of the small number of people, everyone truly gets to know each other. I have made closer friends and more business through troika’s than anywhere else.” ~Janis Shein

Interested in a Troika?

CONTACT Bob Epstein: [email protected](Subject: Troika Interest).

A “troika” is a no-host meeting of 3 or 4 people who (independently of the chamber) schedule a breakfast, lunch or coffee sometime in the upcoming month. Troikas are purposely small so that people can get to know one another and better understand each other's businesses and how they can best refer clients. Please review the tips for a full understanding of how a troika runs.

Sounds of laughter, Christmas Carols, bells ringing and lots of excited squeals as Santa Claus made his first appearance in Tarzana Thursday night (December 6). Village Walk under the organization of Brian Gordon held their second annual Christmas Lighting ceremony, “Jingle in the Jungle” and Tarzana families were lined up around the block.

A Success Story

When I walked into a Chamber breakfast meeting for the first time I was uncomfortable, but everyone was friendly and greeted me like they were happy to see me. I felt at home, and I have felt at home ever since.

I am greeted with “Hi, Ernie”, “My jeweler”, “My man”. It didn’t start right away, but sometime later someone asked me to fix a piece of jewelry. Then someone else wanted a wedding band. OK. It was a start. Then a diamond weddingband. Then an engagement ring for a prominent member. Now it was going great, and it has continued ever since.

"Our agency's success, including the merger, was due to our involvement in the community, especially the Chamber. We have never had a down year and that is thanks to the Chamber and my involvement as an Ambassador."Max Haghighi
