HOME OWNERS ORGANIZATION:
WOODLAND HILLS-TARZANA
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
POSITIONS TAKEN BY THE WHHO BOARD
- Support the "Interim Control Ordinance" to stop the over concentration of apartments and the removal of commercial and industrial areas that make it out of balance with housing and jobs.
- Waiting for the final proposal regarding the development on the north side of Mulholland across from Louisville High. The proposed project originally included 39 condos in a currently R1 zoned area. Initially numerous neighbors and the Design Review Board were against this. We have not taken a final position on a proposed development on the north side of Mulholland, across from Louisville High at Mulholland Highway that wants an exception to the Mulholland Scenic Parkway Specific. We are waiting for the Draft Environmental Impact Report.
You can go to Save Oak Savanna website, for anyone wishing to learn more or get involved and voice your opinion of the development. The website is http://www.saveoaksavanna.org/.
- Oppose the unconditional paving of dirt Mulholland.
- Oppose any further conversion of light manufacturing, small business office space to very dense apartment complexes without replacement in kind of the facilities demolished in Warner Center. We must keep the job/housing balance as intended when Warner Center Specific Plan was brought forth. (Adopted 2004)
- Seek revocation of the "Academy Just for Kids" on Fallbrook - previously we had asked the City to start revocation of their Conditional Use Permit because they refused to follow the conditions that were set for them to operate as well as alleged abuses to the abutting neighbors. (Our position as adopted back in 2004). Now, the Council Office has taken the position along with WHHO to seek revocation of the Academy for Kids on Fallbrook since they have abused the Neighbors and not met the Conditions of approval since 1998. The Zoning Administrator gave an opinion that allows them another year. This went before Planning and Land Use Committee of the City Council on August 8, 2006. They are bringing it back on the 19th of August 2006 and we will see just how firm PLUM is on the statements that they must follow all the conditions or they will revoke the conditional use permit.
- We are monitoring the proposed 340 condo project at the Jehovah Witness Site at 20600 Ventura Boulevard. We are working to make it the best possible project for the community under the City Codes and guidelines. We are involved with the proposed 340 condominium project at the Jehovah Witness Site at 20600 Ventura Blvd. The City Planning Commission on June 22, 2006 approved the development as proposed and put conditions on the zone change the Planning Department demanded so that the number cannot be increased without it coming back to the public. The development will have to provide a shuttle service as part of the CC& R’s so that tenets may shopping and to work without having to use their private autos. This is now going before the Deputy Advisory Agency for the Tract Map.
