Assistance League SFV Mother’s Day Brunch with Marlene Sorosky Marlene Sorosky, famed James Beard award-winning author of eight cookbooks, will demonstrate a three-course Mother’s Day Brunch on Wednesday, May 6, via ZOOM from 3 to 5 PM. Many San Fernando residents recall some of their best meals were from Sorosky’s cooking demonstrations and cookbooks. Sorosky menu for this Mother’s Day Brunch includes Ramos Gin Fizz, Frittata with Spinach, Feta and Tarragon as well as Lemon Yogurt Scones with Lemon Curd. This perfect brunch is ideal as a Mother’s Day gift for your mom, either by making this meal or giving her the gift of the cooking class. All proceeds from the event benefit Assistance League San Fernando Valley (ALSFV) (https://www.assistanceleague.org/sfv/). Tickets are $ 25. For reservations, email Dorothea Taylor at [email protected] by April 26. A Zoom link along with a shopping list of ingredients will be sent before the class. Tina McConnell, ALSFV President, says that during this pandemic year, “Assistance League has been unable to do major fundraising, yet the organization still provides support for its philanthropic activities. Operation School Bell® works with schools in the San Fernando Valley to provide new clothing and hygiene kits including masks for elementary students.” Other ALSFV programs include providing Assault Survivor Kits®, and Kids Kits and Bear Buddies for young patients at Dignity Health, Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Additionally, ALSFV provides Hygiene Kits to two churches that provide showers to the homeless. “Assistant League is so thankful that Ms. Sorosky is giving her time to raise funds for our organization,” says McConnell. The ingredients to Sorosky’s recipes are readily available and her classes are entertaining as well as educational. Sorosky’s goal is to make cooking stress-free and as healthy as possible.
