Walk of Hearts - 10 Years of Teacher Appreciation Celebration - September 28th

Posted on 09/28/14

Founded in 2003, the WALK OF HEARTS® Foundation recognizes teachers for their dedication and continued record of excellence, commitment, innovation, and leadership in education.

Each year the WALK OF HEARTS® Foundation requests nominations from students, school staff and the community for teachers who embody these finest professional qualities.

The ideal nominee is a teacher who is motivating, stimulating, and has that unique ability to inspire and perhaps - with a word or two of encouragement – change a life.  This individual creates a positive, pleasant and productive learning environment while treating their students with respect.  They inspire the school and the community spirit by sharing ideas and successful methods with fellow teachers, setting an example of professionalism.

A WALK OF HEARTS® Foundation teacher has the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues.

2014 marks the 10th year of teacher recognition and the induction of the 50th teacher.

This year’s recipients are:

v  Eunice Chu – Porter Ranch Community School

v  Mindy Levine - Haynes Charter for Enriched Studies

v  Juliana Martinez – Justice Street Academy Charter School

v  Gail Nettels – El Camino Real Charter High School

The plaque unveiling ceremony and reception is on Sunday, September 28, 2014 and is open to the public.  There is a 10 Year Celebration luncheon after the ceremony for all in attendance.
