My name is Sherralee Douglas, a proud Jamaican born and raised. I migrated to the United States at the tender age of five, carrying with me the rich traditions, values, and vibrant spirit of my homeland. Like many Jamaicans, I grew up in a home where food was the heart of everything, a symbol of love, unity, and cultural pride.
Over the years, Ive held tightly to those roots. Food has always been more than just nourishment for me, its a way to tell stories, celebrate our identity, and bring people together. That passion inspired me to create Di Mart, a brand born out of love for Caribbean cuisine, especially the bold, soulful flavors of Jamaica.
Di Mart isnt just about food, its about representation. Far too often, others have profited from our culture without truly honoring its origins. I created this brand not only to share the taste of the islands but to proudly be the face and voice of something authentically ours.
Through Di Mart, I aim to pay homage to my heritage, uplift my community, and share the richness of Jamaican and Caribbean food and kitchenware with the world on our terms, with our flavor and in our voice.
Di Mart is more than a grocery store—it’s a taste of home. From Caribbean and global groceries to authentic Jamaican dishes cooked with love, we’re here to nourish our community one meal at a time.
Accomplishments:
I'm proud to have recently brought two dreams to life Mi Dutchi and Di Mart. Mi Dutchi is my Caribbean cookware line, inspired by the flavors and traditions I grew up with. Di Mart is our new grocery store and Jamaican kitchen, created to serve the community with authentic ingredients and real, homemade island meals. Both businesses are rooted in culture, family, and love.
